Why Thomassique, Haiti?

• Haiti is a country of extreme poverty.
• There is a lack of schools for children in small towns or rural areas.
• There are over 300,000 child slaves in Haiti.
• Many girls are forced into a life of prostitution to survive.
• Less than 50% of the population is literate.
• More than two-thirds of the labor force does not have formal jobs.
• There is an extreme lack of potable water and sewer systems.

What OPTE has accomplished

• Hope Academy, a physical school to accomodate the 300 children and orphans without other opportunities for education.
• Have a school that has a water system and a proper sewer system.
• Provide a place where students can receive at least one meal a day.
• Provide a safe place to give them a chance in an elementary education.

OPTE is a non-profit corporation put together by Rotary Clubs, Church service groups, and individuals dedicated to the cause.

Out of Poverty thru Education is a group of volunteers committed to build a school where the kids will grow up with the love of God in their hearts, nourishment in their bellies, and obedience in their characters. Let them have the knowledge to change the fortunes of their future.

• Tax deductions are available.
• 100% of corporate donations go to the teachers and needs of Hope Academy.
• Presentations and investigations into the project are welcome.
